So I download RealPlayer (which is riddled with ads) and tried the file. You know the one with every video codec known to man. I think to myself what the heck kind of file is this if RealPlayer will play it but vlc wont, I even tried it on the mega install of K-lite. Now I haven't used RealPlayer since probably the 90's. I get in contact with the guy and he said he could play it on RealPlayer. It's a standard avi file so it should play on almost anything. At this point, I contact the source to find out if they have played the file successfully and what they used. So I proceed to tell my user that the file is corrupted, have them send you another. So the fact that she was getting an error message tells me "ok there is probably something wrong with the file if vlc cant play it, vlc plays anything!" Well, sure enough, vlc was throwing errors trying to play the file.
